I am back!

Hey ! So I know I had deserted it here for a while but now that I am finally free from school for – probably – ever, I am going to have a lot more time to post, at least until I find a job (#MillennialProblem no. 1 : the shitty job market)!

So I am back today with kind of a double post: a new look using mostly my favourite ever items \o/

THE BASE

I’ve been using exclusively the Erborian CC creme in the shade light for over a year now and I love how easy it is. It comes out of the tube white like a moisturizer and “adapts” to your skin colour (it actually just gets darker the more you rub it). It’s a light coverage but fairly buildable, has SPF 25 and blends into the skin pretty well. For concealer, I tend to use the Urban Decay Naked skin in light neutral which has pretty intense coverage but doesn’t feel to heavy and doesn’t get too cakey or noticeable on the skin. And since I have a pretty oily skin, I have to set my base. I used the Rimmel Stay matte pressed powder for a very long time but then discovered the magic of loose powder and I don’t think I am ever going back to pressed! My favourite at the moment is the Makeup Forever Ultra HD translucent powder which is super finely milled and give a kind of airbrush finish to the face. I’ve heard it gives a white cast in flash photography but couldn’t confirm this since I never use a flash.

THE FACE COLOURS

Now that we have a nice blank canvas, it’s time to add some colour to make me look a little less like a zombie a little more alive. For bronzer/contour, TheBlam Balm Desert is my all-time favourite: the colour is great, not too aggressive on my fair skin, and it’s pretty easy to work with. It is a pigmented enough product without being too powdery or too muddy and you can build up the colour if you want to.

On the apples of my cheeks, I love using this Tarte Amazonian Clay blush in the colour “Exposed” which is a really natural soft pink shade. I realize it looks very dark on this picture, but it’s actually not that pigmented and gives your cheeks some colour without being too red or too orange. And then on to highlighter. I honestly couldn’t pick one favourite highlighter because ALL THE GLOW. But for this look, I did decide to go for the cult TheBalm Mary-Lou Manizer which is actually one of the first highlighters I’ve ever bought. It gives a really nice golden glow without being too yellow. It’s also the perfect amount of glow but is not a glittery mess which I’m all for!

THE EYES

IMG_0335

I think everyone know this by now since I use it in literally every single post : the Stila Eyes are the window palette in Soul is my ultimate favourite eye shadow palette. It has everything you need for a natural everyday look paired with some really good shimmers. That’s a winner for me! You can on the picture see mine is very well-loved… The two shades I use the most are without a doubt “Individual” as a crease transition shade (used on the look I am wearing today) and “Kitten” as an inner corner highlight.

For mascara, I use the L’Oréal Paris Lash Paradise *every single day*, whether I’m wearing a full face or just mascara and lipstick (which is what I do most days tbh). It is such a great one: gives you very black thick and voluminous eyelashes. I won’t lie, it can get very clumpy if you overdo it but used carefully it’s the perfect long-lasting dramatic mascara. And to finish off almost all of my looks, I use that H&M Beauty soft kajal eye pencil in pale nude so that I can at least pretend that I’m always well-rested.

THE LIPS

IMG_0344

In the look I’m wearing today, I used a combination of the two lipsticks above which are actually two of my favourite formulas. First is TheBalm Meet Matt(e) Hughes in “Loyal” : a nice classic red liquid lipstick. Aside from the colour, I really love this formula which is super long-lasting without being too dry – also it smells like peppermint, yes please! Since the liquid lip was too red for the look I wanted today, I topped it off with a coat of Kiko everlasting lip stylo in (I think) the shade “rosy nude”. I’ve had mine for a very long time and they have repackaged this range now but I believe the formula is still the same (but might be mistaken since I haven’t tried the new ones…). This line is actually the one that got me obsessed with lipstick about four years ago now. I hated wearing lipstick before that because I couldn’t find any that would last all day (liquid lipsticks weren’t a thing yet back then!) and just couldn’t be bothered reapplying it over and over again, until I stumbled upon the red shade of this range. I was sold. It literally doesn’t budge *all day*! As for this specific shade, I’m not that into it alone because it’s really nude and washes me out a lot but I use it so much on top of other lipsticks in order to mute them down a little.

THE FINISHED LOOK

And here is the finished look! I’m pretty happy with it. Decided not to go for eye liner because I wanted to keep it really soft.

You can see clearly here how the CC creme lets my freckles peek through which is what I like the most about it, I’ll be honest.

Oh and also, I don’t use anything at all on my eyebrows. I basically just brush them with a spooly brush and they’re good to go! I was actually blessed with full enough brows that I don’t feel I have to fill them in which is just one less step in my makeup routine.
